Vikings inspired bridal shoot at Lowther Castle

So what happens when you have ideas overflowing?

We have created a couple of Game of Thrones and Medieval inspired wedding dress this summer  and have loved every minute. We really got into the zone and had dress ideas spilling out all over the place so when Tiree and Megan got in touch to discuss concepts for our third project together we knew we had to suggest a lavish and contemporary interpretation of Vikings.

We have worked with Tiree (Tiree Dawson Photography) and Megan (Typical Type) on our En Hiver and Flower Fairies shoots and while the 3 of us were discussing concepts for our third project together that the idea of luxury Viking wedding inspiration really took hold… it was the perfect time for Typical Type to launch their TOPtable and Tiree was itching to return to Lowther Castle in Penrith. … this was going to be EPIC!

We set about finding the right suppliers for the project; likeminded suppliers whose creativity and passion really stand out. On our shoots we really like to encourage people to take inspiration from our shared pinboards.  It’s about a mood, a feel, showing couples what they might want to consider for their wedding day. It’s not necessarily about recreating a wedding, or trying to break the mould, but about showing brides what happens when you hire the right people to create your special day… and we’re blown away by the Video (by MoviArt Wedding Films) and Images (Tiree Dawson)

Our gorgeous models; Rachel, Kate and Sam were amazing and on a crisp Autumn day didn’t let the cold sneak in. With a seemingly effortless flick of the brush Sonara (Sonara Parker Makeup Artist) created 3 very different and utterly gorgeous looks and Duncan (Duncan Fisher Hair Designer) skilfully braided and twisted tresses into intricate updo’s that really complimented our dresses and accessories.

Our idea was to combine contemporary bridal techniques with traditional fabrics and Viking styling ideas; (More in-depth posts on our dresses and accessories will follow…)

Rachel wore Runa; duchess satin mermaid gown with sweetheart neckline, braided lacework and finished with crystal rhinestones, smoky quartz and copper metalwork. The detachable hooded chiffon cape mirrored the low back detail and crystal comb with chains that braided into her hair

Kate wore Tovie; chiffon , nipped in belted waist, leather collar with deep v back and chain lace up

and Sam wore Freya; chiffon intricate lace, leather flower and crystal chain detailing
