Vegas Vow renewal

Usually, when I sit down to write about one of our resent weddings I know where the blog is heading, but Elaine and Mik’s wedding is different. It’s a vow renewal for a start! How cool is that? I’m trying to think now how many vow renewals we’ve made dresses for, and out of the hundreds of dresses we’ve made I can probably count them on one hand. It’s one of those things that as a new bride you easily imagine reliving on your 10 or 20 year anniversary but how many of us actually do it? Well, Elaine and Mik that’s who! Not only that but they went to Vegas and had Elvis perform the ceremony in a little white chapel with a pink Cadillac. Can they get any more awesome? Well yes – they topped it off with matching tattoos. These guys just know how to do it. We had the pleasure of watching their ceremony via a live feed and OMG it was perfect… Coming down the aisle to ‘Can’t help falling in love’, promising not to step on each others blue suede shoes with the curled lip uh-hu-hu and dancing out to (let me be your) Continue Reading →

Thank you EWE – we had a blast!

It’s June. June! Not just the beginning but the second week of June at that! We have a proper backlog of blog posts to share with you and I’ve already spent nearly an hour deliberating about what to share first. One of the REAL weddings that we’ve been involved in? Maybe one of the shoots we have up our sleeve? or the second half of the Scarborough Tattoo Show I promised you last week? Well, it’s actually about time we showed you what went on at the Eclectic Wedding Extravaganza. We LOVED being involved in this great event and can’t believe over 2 months has passed since we were joining the ranks of alternative wedding suppliers at EWE in Birmingham. Part of the reason it’s taken me so long to create this post is because Jay is an insatiable demon behind the camera and produced a whopping 988 images of the weekend. All the images in this blog are Jay’s and we’ve focused just on our part in the event (which in itself is 144 images!) so if you fancy checking out a wider view of the event please feel free to check out here If you’ve never heard of Continue Reading →

Tattooed Wedding Collective take over Scarborough Tattoo Convention

Last weekend we took a mighty road trip to Scarborough to be part of the Tattooed Wedding Collective at Scarborough Tattoo Show; a group of like minded, heavily tattooed wedding professionals bringing all things wedding to a tattoo convention. It’s just one of the alternative arenas we like to get involved with, and one where all three of us (Rachel, Tracy and myself) all manage to attend. It sounds like a crazy idea, but what better way to spend your weekend than on a beautiful coastline in the glorious sunshine, with our favourite people, showing couples they can have their cake and eat it, oh and getting tattooed ourselves as well! Win win I say. We also took the time to have some photo shoots with our amazing models Sam and Katy who gave up their weekend to come and play with us. Several times throughout the weekend they could be found on the beach with Rachael (Marry Me Ink) and Andy (Peacock Obscura). The shoots warrant a blog of their own so I’m just going to share a few images here before showing you the rest of the weekend… Part 1 Part 2 Part 3 Legend Bridal It’s fair Continue Reading →

Styled shoot: I fell in love with Disco

As you know there is nothing we love more than getting involved in a styled shoot. Well there might be one or two things, but getting together with our friends in the industry and creating something new is right up there with seeing our brides happy on their wedding day. Well, today’s inspiration is the result of joining forces with Typical Type and Tiree Dawson. You’ve seen us work with these guys before on our Viking shoot, our Dip dye and Tweed shoot and our En Hiver shoot but this is a little different… when Megan and Tiree get their heads together crazy things happen and I’m putting this one right up there. Who knew 70’s disco glitter balls would create such beautiful style inspiration? Well take a look… (and scroll to the end to follow links to everyone involved) We created 2 dresses: Pandora Pandora calls back to the 70’s with its boho vibe that brings to mind the disco beat of flares, soft lace and high waist dreamy maxi dresses. This dress is truly individual and so romantic with its oversized hood and flowing sleeves cut from lace which has the deepest of deep borders. So, while it Continue Reading →

The day of the Dryad

My heart aches, and a drowsy numbness pains My sense, as though of hemlock I had drunk, Or emptied some dull opiate to the drains One minute past, and Lethe-wards had sunk: ‘Tis not through envy of thy happy lot, But being too happy in thine happiness, That thou, light-winged Dryad of the trees, In some melodious plot Of beechen green, and shadows numberless, Singest of summer in full-throated ease. Ode to a Nightingale – Keats Back in March, right when the wedding season was just starting to pick up pace, we decided to get together with Kate and Allan of Marmalade Toast to create some delicious darkness in the woods. The idea was to turn Kate into a woodland nymph, a Dryad, a creature that is part of nature. It was the outset of storm Doris. On any other day we would have shied away from an outdoor shoot but the prematurely dark skies and blustery winds really added to the ambiance. This combined with the skills Michelle Yates lent to the project in creating sprite like make up and a vine that crept over Kate’s skin and you have yourself a true woodland nymph. As for the dress, Continue Reading →

We’ve been quiet but look at everything we’ve been up to…

You know we’re busy right? The ‘I don’t even have time to check my shirt is on the right way out’ kinda busy. The ‘I’m placing orders twice because I’d rather have 2 than find out I didn’t order any’ kinda busy. The kinda busy where if a job takes more than 30 seconds to complete and isn’t directly connected to a brides order it simply gets added to the ever increasing ‘to do’ list. I bleat on about it ALL the time. I feel like I’m constantly harping on about how little time there is in a day or the things I’ve yet to do… or maybe I don’t? I realise that even though I have this constant monologue going on in my head, very rarely does it leek out. And instead of telling you guys how crazy busy we are, or how our appointments are booked up for several weeks or that we’re not taking any more orders for this summer, it simply looks like we’ve gone quiet. Because writing a blog post takes time. And time feels like an ever decreasing commodity. As a result several weeks have passed since our last update and I’m scared by Continue Reading →

Steampunk adventures at Holmes Mill

We love Holmes Mill. It’s such a beautiful quirky venue. We love the industrial feel and decayed elegance, and if I’m honest the fact that it’s also a brewery and always has a crazy number of craft ales on tap is an added bonus. So when we were invited along to their Steampunk themed wedding fair at the beginning of March how could we say no? especially as it incorporated a shoot with the awesome Stella Photography. We had such a lovely time at Holmes Mill; the staff were just attentive I know that any couple getting married there would be well looked after. Seb and Zuzi of Stella Photography were also a riot work with too and just look at these images! great work! There were a few specially selected businesses on hand; businesses who’s style and creativity blend easily with the steampunk aesthetic. We were so pleased to see our firm favourites Beautifully Vintage had created an absolutely stunning Steampunk table show piece – one the Cottonopolis Coglective would fight over. And the gorgeous creations by Iced of Garstang were something to behold. We also loved the cute tin men by RES creative designs (as well as their Continue Reading →
