Amy + Will’s New York themed wedding

Amy found us while searching for bridesmaids dresses. She had already chosen her Justin Alexander gown but had a specific idea for her bridesmaids dresses and was struggling to find exactly what she wanted. As we heard all about Amy and Will’s New York themed wedding we couldn’t help get excited (… you should check out their wedding Chris Matthews Photography’s blog) Amy and her bridesmaids were a delight to make dresses for. They chose super cute pink 50’s style dresses with ruched sweetheart bodices, lace-up backs and tulle petticoats and to add extra excitement Kim found out she was pregnant so her design was modified to an empire bodice. We also had the pleasure of making Su’s gorgeous aqua dress, jacket and cocktail hat

Lauren + Adam at Samlesbury Hall

Today we get to unleash our dark side… we don’t often get to let our Goth out in full force, but today we have a double whammy. Not only is today our uber Goth shoot (more on that soon), but we also get to share the darkly decadent Lauren. We first met Lauren at Samlesbury Hall Wedding Fair. It was our first time exhibiting there and we were beyond excited. If ever there was a venue that reflected our designs then this is it. We took our gowns and our girls and gave Samlesbury Hall a catwalk show Legend style. Lauren and Adam had just booked Samlesbury Hall for their wedding and before that excitement had begun to sink in Lauren had watched our catwalk show and promptly ‘lost’ her groom-to-be so we could talk dress and we are SOOO glad she did. Not only did we make Laurens dress and coat, but we also made dresses for her 5 bridesmaids in amethyst tulle. How good do they all look! Lauren is a girl after my own heart. I got so excited hearing plans about their wedding and honeymooning in Disneyland over Halloween! OMG too exciting for words! and we’re Continue Reading →

Lizzie + Gareth at Comlongon Castle in Dumfries

We  first met Lizzie and her mum at a wedding fair at Hoghton Tower. I remember talking to Lizzie as they had come to the wedding fair specifically to check us out and booked for a consultation there and then (this is a great way to come and see what we do without having to make an appointment. Check out our events section to see where we are going to be next). We loved every minute of our fittings with Lizzie and her entourage. We were able to schedule appointments midweek (which are inevitably less pressured than Saturdays) so it felt more like hanging out than anything else. Lizzie chose to combine various ideas from several of our designs for her wedding dress and added her own twist to make it all her own. She chose a champagne duchess satin with the palest gold tulle overlay and is one of our trend setting brides opting for a high-low hem (the best way to show off those Charlotte Mills shoes AND rock a train) and added a flash of that gorgeous pillar-box red to her petticoats. Lizzie also added strings of crystals and ivory and blush pearls to the back of Continue Reading →

Sarah and Matt at Eaves Hall

We first met Sarah and Matt at a wedding fair at Browsholme Hall. We’d spent the day chatting to various brides, however my conversation with Sarah in particular stands out. As we talked about her wedding plans I could see the idea of having her dress made take hold. I’m pretty sure the idea of a bespoke wedding dress hadn’t occurred to Sarah before our conversation, but as we discussed various styles and I was able to show exactly what she was describing it was easy to see the excitement grow. At the end of the day, while we packed up and chatted about the conversations we’d had that day, I was struck by how disappointed I would be if Sarah didn’t become one of our brides. I was quite excited then to see her name in our new Facebook followers, and later see her name pop up in our Instagram. It wasn’t long before there was a ping in our inbox and we’d booked Sarah in for a consultation. One of the really exciting things for us was that Sarah chose one of our designs in a custom colour. The beauty of bespoke is that you are in complete Continue Reading →

Gemma and Ryan at Browsholme Hall Tithe Barn

We first met Gemma and her mum Pam at at Wedding Fair at Browsholme Hall. It was actually Pam that we got chatting to about her Mother of the Bride outfit… Gemma and Ryan were busy discussing how perfect the Tithe Barn would be for their wedding day and like so many Brides-to-be, Gemma avoided getting drawn into wedding dress conversations within earshot of her Groom. It wasn’t long however before we were discussing both Mother-of-the-Bride and Wedding dress… and bridesmaids… and Aunty Linda’s dress. It was an absolute pleasure creating Gemma’s perfect wedding dress. Every fitting was a riot of laughter and it was lovely to hear about all their wedding preparations and to be invited to their ceremony to see Gemma and Ryan married. Such a lovely day! Gemma chose the most delicate chantilly lace for her wedding gown; beautiful sweetheart bodice with the lace creeping up over her shoulders and down her sleeves but leaving her dress entirely backless. The skirt was a fitting mermaid with a shear lace overlay that softened the look – giving you glimpses of the fishtail underneath but with a softer vintage feel.   Gemma went a step further to give us Continue Reading →

Kate and Allan’s Surprise Wedding

Kate and Allan know how to keep a secret! They turned the 7th anniversary party of their business Marmalade Toast into the ultimate Wedding shindig… We were working with Allan on an awesome styled shoot in a soon to be demolished underground reservoir when he casually hinted that Kate may be in need of a dress for a ‘thing’ coming up in April… a thing… and would we have time to make something considering the short timescale. With a few more details, and being totally sworn to secrecy we started working with Kate to create her oh so hush hush wedding dress. There were just 2 proviso’s; it had to have pockets and we needed to incorporate orange. To say we were excited was an understatement. To be privy to such a secret, when people we know and work with had no idea was intense, but boy was it worth it!

The Wedding Industry Awards Best Dressmaker Regional Finalist

Sometimes, our weeks are so busy, that we get lost in the immediate. We are always pushing ourselves; running to the next wedding date and trying to build our business into something special. It’s very rare that we take the time to stand back and look at how far we have come. We have been involved in the world of weddings for a good number of years, however Legend Bridal Designs isn’t yet 18 months old! So it’s beyond humbling that we were not only nominated by our brides for the Best Dressmaker category in The Wedding Industry Awards, but we made regional finals! Regional finalists and not even a year old! Well, we have just received all the feedback from the brides that voted for us. It’s all anonymous, but I’ll tell you it’s a beautiful read… and extremely touching! We are seriously feeling the love and it’s what makes all the hard work, lack of holidays and missed nights sleep all worth it. Here are some of our favourite comments: “I don’t have a lot of confidence in myself & was daunted about going into a place, being measured, etc. Rachel & Charlotte were so welcoming though. It Continue Reading →
