Sugar skulls and sunflowers

Laura knew exactly what she wanted; Sugar skulls, rainbows and for each of her bridesmaids to wear something different. I’m not sure whether she’d hunted us down to come and see us at Great Northern Wedding Show or whether it was a happy coincidence that our paths crossed at that fair, but it was one of those easy conversations that quickly revealed we were a perfect for for each other… Laura: I’m looking for a tea length wedding dress but with proper frothy petticoats… Me: like these? Laura: yes, and I want my wedding dress to have loads of colour and maybe, somehow, have sugar skulls incorporated in it? Me: sure thing, we can embroider traditional sugar skull designs on your dress in any colours you want *tries not to jump up and down* Laura: and what about bridesmaids, I want them all different Me: no problem, we can do different colours, styles, anything really Laura: OK, can I make an appointment Me: *does a little dance* That was it, decision made… You should have seen our excitement as we worked out the Dia de los Muertos embroideries, chose colours and other design details. And I don’t think we’ve ever Continue Reading →

Eli & Luke’s red & black wedding

We first met Eli at The Great Northern Wedding show and after a sea of ivory lace it was our stand and in particular Chandra that drew Eli’s attention. Eli had loads of ideas she wanted to incorporate in to her dress, but it was Vega that inspired her to take the design and make it her own… Ivory satin bodice with tulle overlay illusion neckline, full high/low hem with train, trailing black and red petals, and teamed with black petticoats trimmed in red. We love how the red and black work together! And Eli’s fabulous red hair and beautiful red roses… don’t they make a gorgeous couple? Thank you Eli… we LOVED being a part of your day. Royal blue and blush red bridesmaids for Melissa and John

Melissa and her bridesmaids were a riot. Every fitting was filled with giggles and laughter. Looking back at the time we spent with Melissa and her girls, all I can really remember is that there was plenty of fun and a good dose of teasing. That’s why we’re so pleased Zo and Liam sent us these pictures from Melissa and Johns wedding day; the images really show an amazing day filled with hilarity, and although we weren’t there we know their cheeks would have been aching from laughing so much. Thank you for having us as part of your wedding preparations Melissa. Images: ZT Photography

Amy + Will’s New York themed wedding

Amy found us while searching for bridesmaids dresses. She had already chosen her Justin Alexander gown but had a specific idea for her bridesmaids dresses and was struggling to find exactly what she wanted. As we heard all about Amy and Will’s New York themed wedding we couldn’t help get excited (… you should check out their wedding Chris Matthews Photography’s blog) Amy and her bridesmaids were a delight to make dresses for. They chose super cute pink 50’s style dresses with ruched sweetheart bodices, lace-up backs and tulle petticoats and to add extra excitement Kim found out she was pregnant so her design was modified to an empire bodice. We also had the pleasure of making Su’s gorgeous aqua dress, jacket and cocktail hat

Lauren + Adam at Samlesbury Hall

Today we get to unleash our dark side… we don’t often get to let our Goth out in full force, but today we have a double whammy. Not only is today our uber Goth shoot (more on that soon), but we also get to share the darkly decadent Lauren. We first met Lauren at Samlesbury Hall Wedding Fair. It was our first time exhibiting there and we were beyond excited. If ever there was a venue that reflected our designs then this is it. We took our gowns and our girls and gave Samlesbury Hall a catwalk show Legend style. Lauren and Adam had just booked Samlesbury Hall for their wedding and before that excitement had begun to sink in Lauren had watched our catwalk show and promptly ‘lost’ her groom-to-be so we could talk dress and we are SOOO glad she did. Not only did we make Laurens dress and coat, but we also made dresses for her 5 bridesmaids in amethyst tulle. How good do they all look! Lauren is a girl after my own heart. I got so excited hearing plans about their wedding and honeymooning in Disneyland over Halloween! OMG too exciting for words! and we’re Continue Reading →

Lizzie + Gareth at Comlongon Castle in Dumfries

We  first met Lizzie and her mum at a wedding fair at Hoghton Tower. I remember talking to Lizzie as they had come to the wedding fair specifically to check us out and booked for a consultation there and then (this is a great way to come and see what we do without having to make an appointment. Check out our events section to see where we are going to be next). We loved every minute of our fittings with Lizzie and her entourage. We were able to schedule appointments midweek (which are inevitably less pressured than Saturdays) so it felt more like hanging out than anything else. Lizzie chose to combine various ideas from several of our designs for her wedding dress and added her own twist to make it all her own. She chose a champagne duchess satin with the palest gold tulle overlay and is one of our trend setting brides opting for a high-low hem (the best way to show off those Charlotte Mills shoes AND rock a train) and added a flash of that gorgeous pillar-box red to her petticoats. Lizzie also added strings of crystals and ivory and blush pearls to the back of Continue Reading →

Happy Anniversary to Nija + Jonti and that Tattoo Wedding dress

It was easy to decide which of our beautiful real brides to share with you today. It just happens to be the anniversary of Nija and Jonti. Nija +Jonti are one of our most spontaneous couples. On getting engaged they set the date for in just 6 weeks time, quite a challenge, but oh my word they pulled it off! In that first week of wedding planning Nija had seen one of our brides featured on Rock n Roll Bride, eagerly hotfooted it over to our website and instantly fell in love with our Rockabilly wedding dress with swallow tattoos and heart peom embroidery. With just 5 weeks left to the wedding date we set about customising our design for Nija. We LOVE Nija’s dress, 50’s rockabilly pinup style wedding dress in Ivory satin with Kingfisher blue waistband, asymmetric neckline with Swallow Tattoo embroidery and full circle skirt with more swallows, nautical stars and the Romance by Edgar Allan Poe embroidered in a heart shape. Nija also had the most glorious cornflower blue and plum petticoats and metallic plum shoes to die for. We also made Jonti a matching tie   Romance, who loves to nod and sing, With drowsy Continue Reading →
