Boho babe meets Rock rebel in ZT Photography’s LEVEL UP workshop

I can’t believe it’s the middle of July and we haven’t yet had chance to share this gorgeous set of images from LEVEL UP… Back in April we helped our good friends Zo and Liam on their LEVEL UP project; lending dresses for their unique styled shoot idea… “Ultimately Level Up! was designed to create opportunities for photographers to get creative and build a portfolio of shots to attract the right kind of clients for them! Our first session had a bridal concept, with two different bang on trend styled brides with plenty of cool and creative scenarios to shoot.” Zo ZT Photography We have never been involved in this kind of shoot before. When we usually get involved in shoots it’s right at the beginning of the process and have a hand in developing the concept and style direction. We then create pieces specifically for that shoot. . On this occasion Zo had a very clear idea of the vibe she wanted to create and the dresses were already in our collection. Zo and Liam pulled together some awesome creatives to help with their vision, and this is where the Boho Babe Vs Rock Rebel concept came together: Venue: Ashfield House, Wigan Continue Reading →

Grunge Biker Wedding inspiration to die for

So, 2 minutes ago we were on the run up to the Great Northern Wedding show and looking for models. All of a sudden it’s June… JUNE!!! May has been, without a doubt, our busiest month so far. It seems to be taking over most summer months as the choice for weddings. Maybe it’s the double whammy of Bank Holidays or maybe it’s just because the weather tends to be quite beautiful; either way it meant we were pretty much locked in the sewing room for the whole of May. As a result, everything non-imminent wedding related has been put on hold – planning our autumn collection (yeah totally out the window), getting involved in shoots (delayed until after wedding season), keeping up with the world (what – there’s stuff happening outside our door?), buying light bulbs (yes, seriously need light bulbs!). It’s also meant that we have a backlog of gorgeous we still need to share with you… Grunge Biker Wedding Inspiration Back at the beginning of the year, when Kate and Lisa of Paragon Floral Design got in touch asking if we wanted to be involved in a collaborative shoot we knew instantly we would say yes. We Continue Reading →

Vikings inspired bridal shoot at Lowther Castle

So what happens when you have ideas overflowing? We have created a couple of Game of Thrones and Medieval inspired wedding dress this summer  and have loved every minute. We really got into the zone and had dress ideas spilling out all over the place so when Tiree and Megan got in touch to discuss concepts for our third project together we knew we had to suggest a lavish and contemporary interpretation of Vikings. We have worked with Tiree (Tiree Dawson Photography) and Megan (Typical Type) on our En Hiver and Flower Fairies shoots and while the 3 of us were discussing concepts for our third project together that the idea of luxury Viking wedding inspiration really took hold… it was the perfect time for Typical Type to launch their TOPtable and Tiree was itching to return to Lowther Castle in Penrith. … this was going to be EPIC! We set about finding the right suppliers for the project; likeminded suppliers whose creativity and passion really stand out. On our shoots we really like to encourage people to take inspiration from our shared pinboards.  It’s about a mood, a feel, showing couples what they might want to consider for their Continue Reading →

Cobbles and Curlers – a real Lancashire styled photoshoot

We have shared snippets of this shoot on our Facebook page and were super excited that Brides Up North featured this styled shoot, but we thought it was about time we had it on our own blog. We just LOVE how playful this shoot is. I don’t think we can call it wedding inspiration… who scrubs cobbles in their wedding dress? But I think it shows how easy our dresses are to wear if nothing else. Video by MoviArt FIlms We have known Zoie (Zoie Carter-Ingham) for a while and whenever we are together we always talk about organizing a shoot together. We’ve had several ideas, all very creative, yet time and availability have always kept our plans on the back burner. This summer however, when Zoie mentioned her idea for a very Lancashire shoot with a nod to the textile industry our towns are built on, we knew we had to run with it.  The shoot was set in a back street in Rishton; a row of terraces on one side and the empty shell of an old mill on the other. Zoie chose this street as it is reminiscent of so many mill towns in the area.  The Continue Reading →

Couture is for Grannies: 60’s Mod Wedding Shoot

‘Couture is for Grannies’ -Brigitte Bardot We love working with Little White Books, so when Maxine approached us to get involved in the shoot to promote the upcoming Great Northern Wedding Show we didn’t have to give it much thought. Great team [tick] Great location [tick] Awesome model [tick] Interesting concept [tick] The 60’s isn’t an era we have explored in our designs previously. Never ones to take the conventional route we love to explore new ideas and the revolution of the 60’s mod look really appeals to us.  For a business whose entire approach is based on bespoke tailoring we are in love with Brigitte Bardot’s ‘Couture is for grannies’ attitude. Channeling Twiggy we took those sleek lines and simple silhouette trademarks of miniskirts, A-line dresses and kitten heels and created a wedding dress for our very own Jane Birkin. We chose a beautiful Guipure 3d sculptured lace with a fab larger than life flower design which so typifies the 60s. The Mod style is all in the cut. Moving away from full skirts and froth to simple lines that show curves we kept the shape simple, opting for an empire style A-line mini dress with bell sleeves and Continue Reading →

Marilyn Monroe inspired Bridal Shoot

Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it’s better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring Marilyn Monroe We LOVE this sentiment. We love self expression and encourage everyone to hold true to their personal style when planning their wedding. We say it a lot, do what makes you feel good… and Marilyn Monroe was definitely an advocate of this philosophy. She is also such a style icon it was a no brainer when the idea came up with Julie Lomax Photography and Marie Antoinette Cakes. We were all instantly excited when we hit on the idea and knew we had to run with it. We took influence from some of Marilyn’s most iconic looks: the signature empire cut and nipped in waistline. We took those elements, updated it with gold sequins and added a Legend twist teaming it up with jagged tulle and black petticoats. And doesn’t Melissa look the spit of Marilyn? I was blown away by the work of Ruby Red Lips makeup and Lucinda Kay Hair Black and Gold is such a glamorous colour combination. It’s quite dramatic and oozes luxury. We love how Marie Antoinette Cakes styled our venue and those cakes! This shoot was Continue Reading →

New Design – Anise, 2 piece wedding dress

When we first saw the images from this Flower Fairies shoot we were blown away. Not only were we in love with the images detailing our work but we were in awe of all the details and work everyone else had put into the shoot. We are always proud and excited by the teams we work with but to be on blog post number 4 and still finding new details to share… well, I’m lost for words. We created three dresses for this shoot and have already shared Erica and Nerine. This blog post is all about Anise and the woodland setting… Anise is part of our growing collection of bridal separates. It’s a two piece gown; off the shoulder lace crop top and full chiffon skirt. We love the relaxed charm of mixing and matching and the versatility of switching up your look throughout the day. And doesn’t Sadie look positively elfin? Aimee and Katy worked their magic in that effortless manner of seasoned pros creating the perfect makeup and hair. Combine that with gorgeous floral details and touches of tweed and I’m in love with the whole woodland feel. And that circlet instead of a bouquet – simply Continue Reading →
