Michelle and Martyn’s NYC elopement

We’ve known Michelle a few years. In fact she’s modeled for us on a couple of occasions over that time (here you can see the Sidhe shoot and the Wycollar shoot). And you could be forgiven for thinking these beautiful images are part of another styled shoot, but no, this is Michelle and Martyn’s real life wedding… Michelle approached us right at the beginning of her wedding planning process. She had a firm idea of what she wanted her dress to be like and had started to book the other aspects of her wedding. We were so excited to hear all her ideas and to be involved. A few short weeks later, Michelle and Martyn decided to bring their wedding forward 6 months to elope to New York and get married in secret; and what a beautiful time they had, just them, their gorgeous family and their amazing photographer Teresa C Photography. Michelle’s dress was unlike any we’ve made before; several layers of different laces all working together to build a beautiful deep texture, not only layered to create a unique lace of it’s own but several layers of the combination working together to create a multi-layered, vintage inspired and Continue Reading →

Grunge Biker Wedding inspiration to die for

So, 2 minutes ago we were on the run up to the Great Northern Wedding show and looking for models. All of a sudden it’s June… JUNE!!! May has been, without a doubt, our busiest month so far. It seems to be taking over most summer months as the choice for weddings. Maybe it’s the double whammy of Bank Holidays or maybe it’s just because the weather tends to be quite beautiful; either way it meant we were pretty much locked in the sewing room for the whole of May. As a result, everything non-imminent wedding related has been put on hold – planning our autumn collection (yeah totally out the window), getting involved in shoots (delayed until after wedding season), keeping up with the world (what – there’s stuff happening outside our door?), buying light bulbs (yes, seriously need light bulbs!). It’s also meant that we have a backlog of gorgeous we still need to share with you… Grunge Biker Wedding Inspiration Back at the beginning of the year, when Kate and Lisa of Paragon Floral Design got in touch asking if we wanted to be involved in a collaborative shoot we knew instantly we would say yes. Would you like to model for us?

We are not like other bridal shops. You know this. You know that we design and make everything ourselves and that every dress is unique. We are constantly taking images of our work, details and snippets throughout the process, but never share any of it… I’m terrible at taking pictures; blurry, over exposed (yes I can do that with an iPad) and ALL the jaunty angles they are working photos to help us remember what’s going on, they’re not styled or staged beautiful detail shots we NEVER share pictures of actual brides wedding dresses until after the wedding – in which case pictures of their wedding day are much more interesting. This means that in order to show you what we can do we need to create styled photo shoots. Our ideas vary wildly; sometimes we want to create an ethereal woodland fairytale, sometime and edgy and contemporary showcase and sometimes, we just get an idea of a scene and just need to bring it to life and we often work with other wedding suppliers to bring together an idea. As such are always on the lookout for models for various projects. If you are interested in getting involved, either Continue Reading →

Easter, April and full swing wedding season

As promised in my previous post I’m sat here in my PJ’s, brew on one side, chocolate on the other and looking forward to getting out later today. We didn’t manage to keep the whole of Easter weekend free of work but we’re still getting time to chill out and take a breath. Now I have a moment, I realise there is so much coming up in our diary that we haven’t shared with you: Wedding fair at The Wellbeing Farm – Sunday 3rd April NEXT SUNDAY! Wow, how did that creep up on us? We are really looking forward to joining the team at The Wellbeing Farm for their wedding fair next week. It’s such a quirky venue and we love it. There are few wedding venues that really let you run wild with your ideas but The Wellbeing Farm is one… I can’t wait to see who else will be exhibiting too and of course met loads of excited couples. Really looking forward to next weekend! Level Up with ZT Photography Our good friends Zo and Liam are sharing their expertise in a workshop specially developed for photographers wanting to build their portfolio. Date: 19th April 2016 – Continue Reading →

Wedding Dress 101: demystifying the silhouette

So, wedding season has officially hit here at Legend Bridal. We are now running through the weeks at a rate of knots and regularly staying late in to the evening just to get ready for appointments later in the week. All our Saturday appointments are fully booked up for the next 5/6 weeks and that feels great – to be so busy so early in the year. And we are feeling rather smug too – at the beginning of the year we had the foresight to plan in a couple of little breaks. A way of stopping us burning out… so Easter – I have you in my sights! PJ’s and chocolate are on the horizon! BUT we aren’t taking our eye off the ball just yet! Wedding dress 101 We have been working recently with our newest brides-to-be to develop designs for upcoming weddings and we are trying hard to make the whole process easy and stress free. We totally understand that you are putting a lot of trust in us to take what is in your head and make it real. It’s quite a process and we KNOW it can be nerve wracking; wondering whether what you imagine Continue Reading →

7 ways to love your wedding dress after your wedding day

We receive a lot of questions about this very topic; Legend brides wanting to know the best way to care for their dress, and also from others wanting to know if we’d buy their dress from them to sell on (Spoiler alert: the answer is no btw). There are actually lots of options other than storing or selling your dress… here are 7 different ideas for you to consider. 1.    Have a cherish/trash the dress shoot It’s a shame to only wear your dress once. Why not book a fun creative shoot with your photographer for a more relaxed and playful set of pictures? You don’t have to trash your dress but we do LOVE this awesome trash the dress shoot with ZT Photography’s and their bride Amanda… “Like all brides I knew my dress as soon as I tried it on. Of course I felt like a million dollars on our wedding day but at the same time a little sad that it would be its only outing. When I said I wanted to trash my dress most people didn’t approve but I would rather celebrate my dress than vac pack it and store it in the cold, dark Continue Reading →

Sugar skulls and sunflowers

Laura knew exactly what she wanted; Sugar skulls, rainbows and for each of her bridesmaids to wear something different. I’m not sure whether she’d hunted us down to come and see us at Great Northern Wedding Show or whether it was a happy coincidence that our paths crossed at that fair, but it was one of those easy conversations that quickly revealed we were a perfect for for each other… Laura: I’m looking for a tea length wedding dress but with proper frothy petticoats… Me: like these? Laura: yes, and I want my wedding dress to have loads of colour and maybe, somehow, have sugar skulls incorporated in it? Me: sure thing, we can embroider traditional sugar skull designs on your dress in any colours you want *tries not to jump up and down* Laura: and what about bridesmaids, I want them all different Me: no problem, we can do different colours, styles, anything really Laura: OK, can I make an appointment Me: *does a little dance* That was it, decision made… You should have seen our excitement as we worked out the Dia de los Muertos embroideries, chose colours and other design details. And I don’t think we’ve ever Continue Reading →
