Thank you EWE – we had a blast!

It’s June. June! Not just the beginning but the second week of June at that! We have a proper backlog of blog posts to share with you and I’ve already spent nearly an hour deliberating about what to share first. One of the REAL weddings that we’ve been involved in? Maybe one of the shoots we have up our sleeve? or the second half of the Scarborough Tattoo Show I promised you last week? Well, it’s actually about time we showed you what went on at the Eclectic Wedding Extravaganza. We LOVED being involved in this great event and can’t believe over 2 months has passed since we were joining the ranks of alternative wedding suppliers at EWE in Birmingham. Part of the reason it’s taken me so long to create this post is because Jay is an insatiable demon behind the camera and produced a whopping 988 images of the weekend. All the images in this blog are Jay’s and we’ve focused just on our part in the event (which in itself is 144 images!) so if you fancy checking out a wider view of the event please feel free to check out here If you’ve never heard of Continue Reading →

The day of the Dryad

My heart aches, and a drowsy numbness pains My sense, as though of hemlock I had drunk, Or emptied some dull opiate to the drains One minute past, and Lethe-wards had sunk: ‘Tis not through envy of thy happy lot, But being too happy in thine happiness, That thou, light-winged Dryad of the trees, In some melodious plot Of beechen green, and shadows numberless, Singest of summer in full-throated ease. Ode to a Nightingale – Keats Back in March, right when the wedding season was just starting to pick up pace, we decided to get together with Kate and Allan of Marmalade Toast to create some delicious darkness in the woods. The idea was to turn Kate into a woodland nymph, a Dryad, a creature that is part of nature. It was the outset of storm Doris. On any other day we would have shied away from an outdoor shoot but the prematurely dark skies and blustery winds really added to the ambiance. This combined with the skills Michelle Yates lent to the project in creating sprite like make up and a vine that crept over Kate’s skin and you have yourself a true woodland nymph. As for the dress, Continue Reading →

Vicky and John’s Boho Stydd Garden Wedding

Vicky has to be one of the most fun loving and laid back brides that we have ever had the pleasure to work with and these wedding pictures by Foxley Photography really show the laughter and fun of Vicky and John’s wedding day. Vicky’s bohemian dream wedding dress looks absolutely amazing on her; completely backless, barely there bodice and full length lace skirt with cut away lining… we really LOVE how Vicky’s dress came together and I’m going to share a little bit of the process with you here as I feel it will help some of you reading this. There really are no limits. If you can imagine it, we can make it. However that in itself can be daunting. There is a confidence in knowing exactly what you want and being able to describe it down to a ‘T’ but what if you have a bundle of ideas or just know how you want it to make you feel? Well we can help there too. ANYTHING is possible and you don’t have to have a fully formed idea of exactly what you want before coming to us. Vicky knew the aesthetic she was looking for but was struggling Continue Reading →

Ellen and Alex’s ELfestivAL Wedding

The first real wedding we are going to share in 2017 is the awesome wedding of wedding planner Ellen to her husband Alex that was recently featured on Festival Brides… With a love for music and all things Mexican, Ellen and Alex created the most amazing ELfestivAL… you just have to check out all the amazing detail on the Festival Brides blog.   As for her dress, Ellen had a clear idea of her perfect dress, right down to the type of lace she was looking for, and try as she might she simply couldn’t find it. So what does a wedding planner do in times of need? She reaches out to her friends in the industry for recommendations for bridal designers that could create what she was looking for. We were humbled to discover that we came highly recommended by more than a few businesses and more than pleased Ellen was willing to make the 4 hour round trip for her dress fittings. Being the creative soul that she is she really let her sense of style and individuality shine through. Our favourite bit? the gold veil by HF couture. I mean, a gold veil! Here is a closer Continue Reading →

Victoria + Paul; a tweed wedding for our competition winners

We love Victoria and Paul. If ever there was a couple so utterly made for each other then surely they are it. So before we get into blogging about Victoria and Paul’s wedding and how much we loved being a part of it we need to tell you that Victoria and Paul were the winners of ZT Photography’s competition that was run earlier in the year. We were very privileged to be able to host a competition where one of our brides (for Legend brides are absolutely the best brides ever) won their wedding photography… yes… won their wedding photography! What an epic prize! Needless to say, all the images included in this post are courtesy of ZT Photography, and to say that just 4 weeks before their wedding Victoria & Paul had to change all their plans, I think their wedding was AMAZING. (It’s also the reason we were honoured to be able to offer Victoria and Paul get ready at our little shop before the short walk to the registry office). Victoria and Paul… We very rarely get to meet our grooms, in fact in the hundreds of brides we’ve helped get ready for their wedding (and thinking Continue Reading →

Boho babe meets Rock rebel in ZT Photography’s LEVEL UP workshop

I can’t believe it’s the middle of July and we haven’t yet had chance to share this gorgeous set of images from LEVEL UP… Back in April we helped our good friends Zo and Liam on their LEVEL UP project; lending dresses for their unique styled shoot idea… “Ultimately Level Up! was designed to create opportunities for photographers to get creative and build a portfolio of shots to attract the right kind of clients for them! Our first session had a bridal concept, with two different bang on trend styled brides with plenty of cool and creative scenarios to shoot.” Zo ZT Photography We have never been involved in this kind of shoot before. When we usually get involved in shoots it’s right at the beginning of the process and have a hand in developing the concept and style direction. We then create pieces specifically for that shoot. . On this occasion Zo had a very clear idea of the vibe she wanted to create and the dresses were already in our collection. Zo and Liam pulled together some awesome creatives to help with their vision, and this is where the Boho Babe Vs Rock Rebel concept came together: Venue: Ashfield House, Wigan Continue Reading →

Michelle and Martyn’s NYC elopement

We’ve known Michelle a few years. In fact she’s modeled for us on a couple of occasions over that time (here you can see the Sidhe shoot and the Wycollar shoot). And you could be forgiven for thinking these beautiful images are part of another styled shoot, but no, this is Michelle and Martyn’s real life wedding… Michelle approached us right at the beginning of her wedding planning process. She had a firm idea of what she wanted her dress to be like and had started to book the other aspects of her wedding. We were so excited to hear all her ideas and to be involved. A few short weeks later, Michelle and Martyn decided to bring their wedding forward 6 months to elope to New York and get married in secret; and what a beautiful time they had, just them, their gorgeous family and their amazing photographer Teresa C Photography. Michelle’s dress was unlike any we’ve made before; several layers of different laces all working together to build a beautiful deep texture, not only layered to create a unique lace of it’s own but several layers of the combination working together to create a multi-layered, vintage inspired and Continue Reading →
