Michelle and Martyn’s NYC elopement

We’ve known Michelle a few years. In fact she’s modeled for us on a couple of occasions over that time (here you can see the Sidhe shoot and the Wycollar shoot). And you could be forgiven for thinking these beautiful images are part of another styled shoot, but no, this is Michelle and Martyn’s real life wedding… Michelle approached us right at the beginning of her wedding planning process. She had a firm idea of what she wanted her dress to be like and had started to book the other aspects of her wedding. We were so excited to hear all her ideas and to be involved. A few short weeks later, Michelle and Martyn decided to bring their wedding forward 6 months to elope to New York and get married in secret; and what a beautiful time they had, just them, their gorgeous family and their amazing photographer Teresa C Photography. Michelle’s dress was unlike any we’ve made before; several layers of different laces all working together to build a beautiful deep texture, not only layered to create a unique lace of it’s own but several layers of the combination working together to create a multi-layered, vintage inspired and Continue Reading →

Grunge Biker Wedding inspiration to die for

So, 2 minutes ago we were on the run up to the Great Northern Wedding show and looking for models. All of a sudden it’s June… JUNE!!! May has been, without a doubt, our busiest month so far. It seems to be taking over most summer months as the choice for weddings. Maybe it’s the double whammy of Bank Holidays or maybe it’s just because the weather tends to be quite beautiful; either way it meant we were pretty much locked in the sewing room for the whole of May. As a result, everything non-imminent wedding related has been put on hold – planning our autumn collection (yeah totally out the window), getting involved in shoots (delayed until after wedding season), keeping up with the world (what – there’s stuff happening outside our door?), buying light bulbs (yes, seriously need light bulbs!). It’s also meant that we have a backlog of gorgeous we still need to share with you… Grunge Biker Wedding Inspiration Back at the beginning of the year, when Kate and Lisa of Paragon Floral Design got in touch asking if we wanted to be involved in a collaborative shoot we knew instantly we would say yes. 7 days to go! Eclectic Wedding Extavaganza

We are SOOOOO excited to be invited to exhibit at the Eclectic Wedding Extravaganza! We have watched this event grow over the years and secretly wished we could join the fun. The last few weeks have been crazy busy (with so many awesome proposal stories), and the Eclectic Wedding Extravaganza has kinda crept up on us! So, while all our loved up brides-to-be are having romantic weekends away we’ve taken the opportunity to work out what we are going to showcase. While getting everything together I realised that, other than a couple of little Facebook posts, we haven’t really shared the awesomeness of EWE! So where do we begin? Where is it? It’s at The Bond in Birmingham. From what we can gather it’s an awesome venue. We LOVED reading about Jo & Spigs wedding over on our sister blog Beneath the Dark Veil. Who is going to be there? Besides us you mean? Well, there are some AMAZING businesses signed up to be there and I CANNOT wait to go and say hi and make new friends – It’s always fantastic when you can get to know like minded businesses and there are PLENTY of new faces for us Continue Reading →

Why we don’t quote on someone else’s design

We’ve been busy of late filling our blog with our real brides and photoshoots and just LOVE seeing what details inspire you and spark your interest. Today we’re doing something a little bit different and doing a bit of a general information post. A lot of you come to us because you can’t find exactly what you want or have ideas and know we’ll be able to put them together for you. We encourage everyone to do their research, both into the styles you like and the details you want to incorporate into your design, but also so that you know what is out there. Everyone has a different idea of their perfect dress, and sometimes you don’t know what your perfect dress might look like until you’ve been out and had a look; either by visiting various boutiques and designers or from trawling Pinterest and Instagram. This might sound bizarre, but if on your travels you fall in love with a dress and you know it’s THE ONE… buy it! It’s plagiarism You might really like us and want to support our business and to be a Legend bride but if your perfect dress already exists and hangs on Continue Reading →

Eli & Luke’s red & black wedding

We first met Eli at The Great Northern Wedding show and after a sea of ivory lace it was our stand and in particular Chandra that drew Eli’s attention. Eli had loads of ideas she wanted to incorporate in to her dress, but it was Vega that inspired her to take the design and make it her own… Ivory satin bodice with tulle overlay illusion neckline, full high/low hem with train, trailing black and red petals, and teamed with black petticoats trimmed in red. We love how the red and black work together! And Eli’s fabulous red hair and beautiful red roses… don’t they make a gorgeous couple? Thank you Eli… we LOVED being a part of your day. 2016 is set to be a doozy!

If the first few days are anything to go by, then 2016 is already shaping up to be pretty amazing! We’ve had a restful and well earned Christmas break filled with loads of laughs and the odd tipple. We’ve spent the time around the dinner table looking back over the year we’ve just had and can’t believe just how much we’ve achieved, just how amazing and creative our brides are and more than anything just how quickly the year seemed to fly by! We’re also really excited by everything we have coming up in 2016 (and is it too early to be excited by 2017 too?). Looking at our order book we have some unbelievable wedding dresses to sink our teeth into (… if only we could spill the beans on this years brides!) and we’ve signed up for some really special events and photoshoots. Argh! it’s just too exciting! We are so looking forward to everything 2016 has to offer. As always we LOVE to see our brides on their wedding day; If you are one of our brides and you haven’t yet sent us pictures of your big day please do – we would love to see pictures Continue Reading →

Sarah and Matt at Eaves Hall

We first met Sarah and Matt at a wedding fair at Browsholme Hall. We’d spent the day chatting to various brides, however my conversation with Sarah in particular stands out. As we talked about her wedding plans I could see the idea of having her dress made take hold. I’m pretty sure the idea of a bespoke wedding dress hadn’t occurred to Sarah before our conversation, but as we discussed various styles and I was able to show exactly what she was describing it was easy to see the excitement grow. At the end of the day, while we packed up and chatted about the conversations we’d had that day, I was struck by how disappointed I would be if Sarah didn’t become one of our brides. I was quite excited then to see her name in our new Facebook followers, and later see her name pop up in our Instagram. It wasn’t long before there was a ping in our inbox and we’d booked Sarah in for a consultation. One of the really exciting things for us was that Sarah chose one of our designs in a custom colour. The beauty of bespoke is that you are in complete Continue Reading →
