Victoria + Paul; a tweed wedding for our competition winners

We love Victoria and Paul. If ever there was a couple so utterly made for each other then surely they are it. So before we get into blogging about Victoria and Paul’s wedding and how much we loved being a part of it we need to tell you that Victoria and Paul were the winners of ZT Photography’s competition that was run earlier in the year. We were very privileged to be able to host a competition where one of our brides (for Legend brides are absolutely the best brides ever) won their wedding photography… yes… won their wedding photography! What an epic prize! Needless to say, all the images included in this post are courtesy of ZT Photography, and to say that just 4 weeks before their wedding Victoria & Paul had to change all their plans, I think their wedding was AMAZING. (It’s also the reason we were honoured to be able to offer Victoria and Paul get ready at our little shop before the short walk to the registry office). Victoria and Paul… We very rarely get to meet our grooms, in fact in the hundreds of brides we’ve helped get ready for their wedding (and thinking Continue Reading →

These dip-dye details ensure your heart will soar

Do you think Gwen Stephanie knew what kind of waves she would create in the wedding world when she married Gavin Rossdale back in 2002? Or that her wedding dress would be described as iconic and exhibited in the V&A? That dip-dyed John Galliano wedding dress is still stealing hearts and its a trend that is only now really starting to make it’s way into popularity. We are seeing more and more incredible dip dyed wedding dresses and LOVE how easy it is to infuse your day with your personality without deviating too far from tradition. Here is Nerine, our dip dyed lace and tulle dress as modeled by Betty on our shoot with Tiree Dawson Photography. The shoot was featured on Whimsical Wonderland Weddings and Coco Wedding Venues and the full shoot can be found here: It’s becoming quite an obsession. I love how unique and creative every dress can be and how versatile the idea is. We’ve created a few dip-dyed wedding dresses now  and the idea can be taken so much further when you’re having your dress made, so here are some ideas of how you can use the dip-dye or ombre effect in your own wedding: Continue Reading →

Boho babe meets Rock rebel in ZT Photography’s LEVEL UP workshop

I can’t believe it’s the middle of July and we haven’t yet had chance to share this gorgeous set of images from LEVEL UP… Back in April we helped our good friends Zo and Liam on their LEVEL UP project; lending dresses for their unique styled shoot idea… “Ultimately Level Up! was designed to create opportunities for photographers to get creative and build a portfolio of shots to attract the right kind of clients for them! Our first session had a bridal concept, with two different bang on trend styled brides with plenty of cool and creative scenarios to shoot.” Zo ZT Photography We have never been involved in this kind of shoot before. When we usually get involved in shoots it’s right at the beginning of the process and have a hand in developing the concept and style direction. We then create pieces specifically for that shoot. . On this occasion Zo had a very clear idea of the vibe she wanted to create and the dresses were already in our collection. Zo and Liam pulled together some awesome creatives to help with their vision, and this is where the Boho Babe Vs Rock Rebel concept came together: Venue: Ashfield House, Wigan Continue Reading →

2016 is set to be a doozy!

If the first few days are anything to go by, then 2016 is already shaping up to be pretty amazing! We’ve had a restful and well earned Christmas break filled with loads of laughs and the odd tipple. We’ve spent the time around the dinner table looking back over the year we’ve just had and can’t believe just how much we’ve achieved, just how amazing and creative our brides are and more than anything just how quickly the year seemed to fly by! We’re also really excited by everything we have coming up in 2016 (and is it too early to be excited by 2017 too?). Looking at our order book we have some unbelievable wedding dresses to sink our teeth into (… if only we could spill the beans on this years brides!) and we’ve signed up for some really special events and photoshoots. Argh! it’s just too exciting! We are so looking forward to everything 2016 has to offer. As always we LOVE to see our brides on their wedding day; If you are one of our brides and you haven’t yet sent us pictures of your big day please do – we would love to see pictures Continue Reading →

Cobbles and Curlers – a real Lancashire styled photoshoot

We have shared snippets of this shoot on our Facebook page and were super excited that Brides Up North featured this styled shoot, but we thought it was about time we had it on our own blog. We just LOVE how playful this shoot is. I don’t think we can call it wedding inspiration… who scrubs cobbles in their wedding dress? But I think it shows how easy our dresses are to wear if nothing else. Video by MoviArt FIlms We have known Zoie (Zoie Carter-Ingham) for a while and whenever we are together we always talk about organizing a shoot together. We’ve had several ideas, all very creative, yet time and availability have always kept our plans on the back burner. This summer however, when Zoie mentioned her idea for a very Lancashire shoot with a nod to the textile industry our towns are built on, we knew we had to run with it.  The shoot was set in a back street in Rishton; a row of terraces on one side and the empty shell of an old mill on the other. Zoie chose this street as it is reminiscent of so many mill towns in the area.  The Continue Reading →

Amy + Will’s New York themed wedding

Amy found us while searching for bridesmaids dresses. She had already chosen her Justin Alexander gown but had a specific idea for her bridesmaids dresses and was struggling to find exactly what she wanted. As we heard all about Amy and Will’s New York themed wedding we couldn’t help get excited (… you should check out their wedding Chris Matthews Photography’s blog) Amy and her bridesmaids were a delight to make dresses for. They chose super cute pink 50’s style dresses with ruched sweetheart bodices, lace-up backs and tulle petticoats and to add extra excitement Kim found out she was pregnant so her design was modified to an empire bodice. We also had the pleasure of making Su’s gorgeous aqua dress, jacket and cocktail hat

Couture is for Grannies: 60’s Mod Wedding Shoot

‘Couture is for Grannies’ -Brigitte Bardot We love working with Little White Books, so when Maxine approached us to get involved in the shoot to promote the upcoming Great Northern Wedding Show we didn’t have to give it much thought. Great team [tick] Great location [tick] Awesome model [tick] Interesting concept [tick] The 60’s isn’t an era we have explored in our designs previously. Never ones to take the conventional route we love to explore new ideas and the revolution of the 60’s mod look really appeals to us.  For a business whose entire approach is based on bespoke tailoring we are in love with Brigitte Bardot’s ‘Couture is for grannies’ attitude. Channeling Twiggy we took those sleek lines and simple silhouette trademarks of miniskirts, A-line dresses and kitten heels and created a wedding dress for our very own Jane Birkin. We chose a beautiful Guipure 3d sculptured lace with a fab larger than life flower design which so typifies the 60s. The Mod style is all in the cut. Moving away from full skirts and froth to simple lines that show curves we kept the shape simple, opting for an empire style A-line mini dress with bell sleeves and Continue Reading →
