‘Couture is for Grannies’ -Brigitte Bardot We love working with Little White Books, so when Maxine approached us to get involved in the shoot to promote the upcoming Great Northern Wedding Show we didn’t have to give it much thought. Great team [tick] Great location [tick] Awesome model [tick] Interesting concept [tick] The 60’s isn’t an era we have explored in our designs previously. Never ones to take the conventional route we love to explore new ideas and the revolution of the 60’s mod look really appeals to us. For a business whose entire approach is based on bespoke tailoring we are in love with Brigitte Bardot’s ‘Couture is for grannies’ attitude. Channeling Twiggy we took those sleek lines and simple silhouette trademarks of miniskirts, A-line dresses and kitten heels and created a wedding dress for our very own Jane Birkin. Moving away from full skirts and froth to simple lines that show curves we kept the shape simple, opting for an empire style A-line mini dress with bell sleeves and Continue Reading →
It’s a while now since Daisy and Leigh got married but we are constantly linked back to their wedding. There are so many gorgeous details to fall in love with that it’s easy to see why their wedding still attracts a lot of attention. We think it’s time to take another look… Daisy + Leigh were married 2 summers ago at Heskin Hall in Chorley. Their wedding was filled with fantastic personal details; superhero buttonholes, vintage cars with leopard print interior and super cute tattoos all captured perfectly by the AWESOME Tux & Tales Photography (you need to follow the link to catch the full wedding). We LOVE Daisy’s style. She designed the most adorable sweetheart 50’s dress with a glittery tulle skirt (yes really!), over sized pink bow and triple, TRIPLE, petticoats. Team that up with the perfect winged eyeliner (by Kerry Baker MUA), pin curls and our bespoke birdcage veil and Daisy rocked her way down the aisle! You should also check out the gorgeous video by Adam Nicholas Films… and did I mention their wedding was featured on Rock n Roll Bride?
We are so pleased Laura found her way to us. It seems she fell in love with our Lady of the Lake photo shoot (I think I need to share that one again) whilst talking with ZT Photography and knew there and then that the creative team involved in that project would be perfect to bring her wedding ideas to life. From that very first conversation with Laura we were beyond excited. She described her wedding as Contemporary Nordic and her look was going to be heavily inspired by Daenerys Targaryen of Game of Thrones. There were some key design aspects Laura wanted to incorporate into her design; silk and leather, strong shoulders, nipped in waist, an open back, hearts, bling and a skirt that was straight from the front but had a dramatic train… and I think we ticked all those boxes. After those initial consultations with Laura we realized our creative styles were very similar; our suggestions of chains as lace-up and the contrast of spikes and crystals in the embellishment were met with eager excitement and layering the hearts on the train to look like dragon scales was far too exciting. We had so much fun with Continue Reading →
