2016 is set to be a doozy!

If the first few days are anything to go by, then 2016 is already shaping up to be pretty amazing! We’ve had a restful and well earned Christmas break filled with loads of laughs and the odd tipple. We’ve spent the time around the dinner table looking back over the year we’ve just had and can’t believe just how much we’ve achieved, just how amazing and creative our brides are and more than anything just how quickly the year seemed to fly by! We’re also really excited by everything we have coming up in 2016 (and is it too early to be excited by 2017 too?). Looking at our order book we have some unbelievable wedding dresses to sink our teeth into (… if only we could spill the beans on this years brides!) and we’ve signed up for some really special events and photoshoots. Argh! it’s just too exciting! We are so looking forward to everything 2016 has to offer. As always we LOVE to see our brides on their wedding day; If you are one of our brides and you haven’t yet sent us pictures of your big day please do – we would love to see pictures Continue Reading →

Lauren + Adam at Samlesbury Hall

Today we get to unleash our dark side… we don’t often get to let our Goth out in full force, but today we have a double whammy. Not only is today our uber Goth shoot (more on that soon), but we also get to share the darkly decadent Lauren. We first met Lauren at Samlesbury Hall Wedding Fair. It was our first time exhibiting there and we were beyond excited. If ever there was a venue that reflected our designs then this is it. We took our gowns and our girls and gave Samlesbury Hall a catwalk show Legend style. Lauren and Adam had just booked Samlesbury Hall for their wedding and before that excitement had begun to sink in Lauren had watched our catwalk show and promptly ‘lost’ her groom-to-be so we could talk dress and we are SOOO glad she did. Not only did we make Laurens dress and coat, but we also made dresses for her 5 bridesmaids in amethyst tulle. How good do they all look! Lauren is a girl after my own heart. I got so excited hearing plans about their wedding and honeymooning in Disneyland over Halloween! OMG too exciting for words! and we’re Continue Reading →

How to get the bespoke wedding dress of your dreams

So, it’s time to look for the perfect wedding dress and you just don’t think that the perfect dress for you is out there. We feel you! Choosing your wedding dress is a big part of planning your wedding and a huge emotional roller coaster. There’s a lot to think about when you’re wedding dress shopping, and there’s another layer of questions when you consider going down the bespoke route. We have been designing and creating wedding dresses for over 10 years and have faced every possible question and worry. Here are our top tips to choosing the right designer for you, developing the right design and being confident in your choices, and how to enjoy and get the most from your fittings. How to choose a designer… Do your research and know their work: Look at the previous work of your designer – the wedding dresses they share will give you an idea of the styles they have loved creating and the fabrics they love working with. Are you drawn to their style and creativity? Have a conversation: Do you find them easy to talk to? We are on countdown… there are just 7 days, 7 DAYS! until we see you all at the Great Northern Wedding Show at USN Bolton Arena 7 days is not a lot of time considering the ‘to do’ list we have to work through this week, however, we’ve just had our catwalk rehearsal and you guys are in for a treat! awesome models – tick alternative soundtrack – tick live performances – tick ice machines – tick gorgeous dresses and accessories – TICK We also have Duncan Fisher and Sonara Parker flexing their creative fingers on our models and have been plotting hair and makeup to pull the whole look together. Marilyn Monroe inspired Bridal Shoot

Imperfection is beauty, madness is genius and it’s better to be absolutely ridiculous than absolutely boring Marilyn Monroe We LOVE this sentiment. We love self expression and encourage everyone to hold true to their personal style when planning their wedding. We say it a lot, do what makes you feel good… and Marilyn Monroe was definitely an advocate of this philosophy. She is also such a style icon it was a no brainer when the idea came up with Julie Lomax Photography and Marie Antoinette Cakes. We were all instantly excited when we hit on the idea and knew we had to run with it. We took influence from some of Marilyn’s most iconic looks: the signature empire cut and nipped in waistline. We took those elements, updated it with gold sequins and added a Legend twist teaming it up with jagged tulle and black petticoats. And doesn’t Melissa look the spit of Marilyn? I was blown away by the work of Ruby Red Lips makeup and Lucinda Kay Hair Black and Gold is such a glamorous colour combination. It’s quite dramatic and oozes luxury. We love how Marie Antoinette Cakes styled our venue and those cakes! This shoot was Continue Reading →

Laura and Paul’s Nordic Game of Thrones Wedding on Rock N Roll Bride

We are so pleased Laura found her way to us. It seems she fell in love with our Lady of the Lake photo shoot (I think I need to share that one again) whilst talking with ZT Photography and knew there and then that the creative team involved in that project would be perfect to bring her wedding ideas to life. From that very first conversation with Laura we were beyond excited. She described her wedding as Contemporary Nordic and her look was going to be heavily inspired by Daenerys Targaryen of Game of Thrones. There were some key design aspects Laura wanted to incorporate into her design; silk and leather, strong shoulders, nipped in waist, an open back, hearts, bling and a skirt that was straight from the front but had a dramatic train… and I think we ticked all those boxes. After those initial consultations with Laura we realized our creative styles were very similar; our suggestions of chains as lace-up and the contrast of spikes and crystals in the embellishment were met with eager excitement and layering the hearts on the train to look like dragon scales was far too exciting. We had so much fun with Continue Reading →
