Amy & Jason's gorgeous laid back wedding in Twickenham
One of the best parts of doing what we do is hearing all about your love stories. It’s a real privilege to be a part of such special moments. To have a minor role in those landmark occasions that shape life’s journey and whose memories last a lifetime. It’s more than that. How many people, who’s career is in making something for someone else, actually gets to share in the excitement and see their creation in use? It’s not lost on us. We appreciate every wedding we get to be a part of and our hearts grow with every email of images we get to share.
Each story is unique. No two couples, engagement stories or wedding days are ever the same and we LOVE seeing how amazing every wedding is. Amy and Jason were all about creating a wedding that was fun, relaxed and easy for their friends and family to share in and ultimately everyone got stuck in. But let me allow Amy to share her story with you…
We met at work in May 2014 both working at a pub in Richmond Hill.
It was not love at first sight! I was kind of seeing someone else but I guess our attraction between us grew and at first we were open with people. We kind of kept it secret but by August 2014, we were out and official.
So proposal is another story. It was my birthday in June 2018 and Jason wanted to take me out but I got into a massive strop because I didn't want go anywhere, I thought it is my birthday, why do I have to do something I don't want to do. Anyway he got off the bus at Richmond and started to walk along the river and Jason made up this crap about a fitness event going on and he couldn't find it. Instead he started to get down on one knee, i freaked out and told him to stand up. He began to say ''you are the most difficult person in the world but will you marry me anyway?''
We carried on walking to the pub we both used to work at and met and in their beer garden was our important friends and family!
We got married at York House, Twickenham and then had our reception at the pub across the road. We chose these places because they were local to all our guests and we did not want people to spend money on hotels and other unnecessary things couples make you do when they get married.
There was not much of a colour theme or any kind of theme. We chose things we liked and it somehow just worked.
My dress was the BEST dress. In actual fact it was the 4th dress I brought. I brought 3 WHITE/IVORY dresses before that and well I did not feel like me. In the beginning I thought I had to wear white or ivory because it is what everyone does and well it's tradition right? Turns out I hated wearing white. I don't wear white clothes so why am I going to wear white on the biggest day of my life?
I found Legend Bridal after I came up to Birmingham, saw a friend and we went to the EWE fair, saw your dresses and fell in love with ALL of them but the Nyx just caught my eye a little bit more.
As soon as I got home to Twickenham (4 hours away from Legend Bridal) I booked an appointment. So me and my mum and her husband all drove up to you guys, I tried on 3 dresses and we all agreed that the Nyx was made for me and I was in absolute luck because the lace it was made from was discontinued and I was able to purchase the sample. Truly meant to be! We went through changes to make the bottom longer and add a layer of glitter tulle. (Oh did I mention I face timed my husband to be to get his seal of approval too?, yeah the dress wasn't a secret either).
So 2 months later we drove back for a fitting and YES. The longer length and glitter tulle was PERFECTO!
We did also decided on a veil but on the day I just didn't feel like me and it covered the back of the dress too much. The back was too stunning to cover.
I then had to wait another agonizing 2 months to receive it. The day it came was the best day ever! Even coming in a black box! Love it!
But it was worth it. I got so many complements on the dress!
The day was incredible. It was so chilled. I woke up at 10am, had a coffee, watched TV, got my nails painted (black), came back home and the bridesmaids started to turn up. Got my hair done, then make up! I had both my mum and step-mum help me into the dress. Which was lovely.
We got into a scout minibus (because I'm a scout leader) BUT a quarter of the way there we had to turn around because I forgot the music and my engagement ring!
Me & Jason saw each other before the wedding ceremony, we met in the entrance to York House, had a chat with the best man, the bridesmaids etc..
Our ceremony was great, we had an amazing registrar who was so funny and sarcastic. We were done and signed within 30 mintues.
Walking down the aisle I almost tripped and swore down the the aisle. So the place heard me say FUCK really loud!
Then we moved to the reception. The reception again was amazing. The pub was a little short staffed so our dads and the best man jumped into to serve. It ended up being so funny. As the food was coming out, names were being called/shouted, the the name echoed, and people started putting their hands up ''say that's my food''. It ended up being a real community atmosphere.
There is nothing we would of done differently. Everything happens for a reason and they just make for better memories.
Advice would be to do WHATEVER THE FUCK YOU WANT! Who cares about other opinions, its your day and yours alone. If People don't like it, sod them! (haha).
I would wholeheartedly recommend our photographer Michael Maurer Wedding. He is the nicest, kindest, easy going guy you could meet and just takes the most incredible photos. I'm just in awe of his work.
The florist, Nix's Flowers who just captured the most beautiful autumn colours and I loved the ribbons to my bouquet.
…and of course you Ladies. Without you I would not of had my dress and I would not of felt like best myself! Nothing was ever a problem for you ladies and I thank you for that!
