Sarah & Neil's Halloween Wedding
Sarah and Neil weren’t going to let a little thing like a pandemic ruin their Halloween wedding. It may have been very different from their original plans but it turned out just perfect! I for one, feel like more intimate micro weddings are hella special and would love to see the trend stick around.
I thought it would be awesome to share more from Sarah and Neil’s wedding so asked Sarah if she would mind writing a little bit about her experience. I’m not gonna lie, it has been stressful for us to make sure our couples not only get the outfits of their dreams but also enjoy the whole experience even through lockdown, and reading Sarah’s words has seriously given us the warm and fuzzies, so I’m just going to let Sarah tell you about her whole wedding experience…
We met on a dating site 13 years ago, we were massively in love but too young for something so serious. After three years we parted ways and lived our lives, got good jobs and finally came to realise that we're made for each other, We got back together 3 years ago and it's been a blast ever since.
Our wedding theme was 'Halloween'. Neil is a massive fan of horror films and I'm a goth, so it just seemed the natural thing to do!
We originally were going to have a big party at a pub afterwards with all our friends in fancy dress, but alas, Covid 19 had other ideas. We ended up in Tier 3 restrictions for our wedding day, which meant we had to cut down on guests at our ceremony to only 6 people, as the size of the venue was so small that we couldn't socially distance any more guests.,. We ended up loving the small amount of guests, our Mums and Dads were there but that's all that mattered to us anyway. It was super intimate and we could feel the love and joy around us.
My dress, oh my word my dress. I saw the dress originally online and knew it was the one, but I asked for sleeves to cover my arms and a full back with skull buttons down it. None of which was a problem for the ladies at Legend who put my idea together. I can honestly say it was my dream dress and wearing it was an absolute pleasure. I felt amazing. As a plus sized woman I'm sort of used to clothes not fitting right in one way or another, but wearing this was an absolute dream.
My experience at Legends was perfect. I'm not a girly-girl, and a massive goth, so entering any wedding dress shop was the stuff of nightmares for me. But Legends...I instantly felt at home. I felt like these ladies were life long friends! Usually I never try on clothes in front of people as I'm quite shy about my body, and feel awful if things don't fit right...But I found myself doing silly little dances in my dress in front of everyone. I couldn't give Legends anything but a glowing review, all my worries melted away as soon as I entered the shop floor!
The day wasn't how we imagined due to covid restrictions, but you know what...it ended up better! We had a lovely ceremony. Family surrounding us (who dressed up in Halloween costumes for us!). We had some friends turn up at the venue outside afterwards to wish us well, and we all raised a plastic glass of Prosecco in the park together but socially distanced.
Once we had raised a toast outside the venue, we went home, drank more, opened cards and gifts, and finished off our day eating pizza and watching netflix...and it was perfect! One funny moment from the day was being passed a huge bottle of spray hand sanitiser to use before signing the wedding register. Neil held out his hands so I could spray some on...little did I know it was the most powerful spray nozzle I have ever encountered. Neil ended up covered in hand sanitiser....at least he was covid safe!
The only thing we splashed out on for our wedding was my dress, and it was worth every single penny. I will cherish it forever, I now look forward to having a halloween wedding celebration, whenever the world is back to normal, and being able to wear it all over again! So the only shoutout I'd like to make is to Legend Bridal Designs as they made my gothic princess dreams come true!
